A/HC’s staff has extensive experience assisting clients with statutory compliance, including Federal Section 106 and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements. We have a long record of consultation with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the California State Historic Preservation Office, and the Native American Heritage Commission.
NRHP and CRHR Significance Evaluations
We have completed over one hundred National Register of Historic Places and California Register of Historic Resources significance evaluations for a wide range of cultural properties. We have an especially strong track record in evaluating hydroelectric and transportation-related infrastructure.
Archaeological Survey and Excavation
A/HC has conducted over three hundred archaeological surveys ranging from 1 acre to over 12,000 acres in size, recorded hundreds of prehistoric and historic sites, and managed testing and mitigation excavations throughout urban, coastal, valley, and mountain California.
A/HC and its associates has documented and evaluated numerous historic structures and features in California. We have completed HABS/HAER documentation for dozens of important buildings and industrial facilities in partnership with award-winning photographers.
Southern California Edison Company
A/HC prepared HAER records for Big Creek Powerhouses 1, 2, 2A, and 8. Constructed between 1913 and 1928, these powerhouses were among the largest in the world at the time of their construction.
National Park Service and Federal Highway Administration
A/HC held a five-year on-call contract with the National Park Service and Federal Highway Administration which led to major surveys and excavations in Butte, El Dorado, Placer, Plumas, Sierra, and Yuba Counties.
A/HC conducted an archaeological survey for AC Transit’s Bus Rapid Transit project in Berkeley, Oakland, and San Leandro for client Parsons, recording dozens of significant historic architectural features and a number of prehistoric archaeological sites.
A/HC prepared historic architectural survey technical reports and historic resources evaluation reports of seven cemeteries in Colma as part of the environmental assesment work for the BART SFO Airport extension.
